i also fish the upground alot and would like to pass on that in the early

spring before bass fishing begins to pick up the crappie come in on the

shore line near the boat launch. depending on wind, temp., fishing pressure,

and all the other factors the fishing can be excelent. the most numbers are

caught on the warmer, calmer days but fishing pressure is usualy higher on

these days. bigger fish are caught on cold, windy days. we fish with small,

small minnows, small tubes, small hair jigs, and small crappie spinners.

when fishing for crappie be ready for a surprise, I've seen people pull bass

up to 5# and pike up to 3 feet long on crappie gear so be ready for big

fish.

as the year progresses bass fishing picks up. mid spring i start on the

southern and western shores lookin for bass gittin ready to bed and start

casting when i get just in range to cast, but the thing is because of the

clear water it is hard, very hard to get close enough to cast small lures.

one thing, fishing from shore almost never works for bass here because they

can see before you see them so i suggest fishing from small john boats or

cannoes because they are quite.

post spawm i begin to stop fishing the shoreline and start to move out to

the middle onto the fish shelf. weeds start to grow here in mid spring right

about post spawn and our bass friends love these. i usualy fish crankbaits

and spinnerbaits. usualy if these don't work and weeds are close to the the

top i start throughing top waters. my favorites are buzzbaits and and

floating worms.

in the summer time we fish the deeper channels in the middle that cut

through the weeds, these are easy to find without a fish finder because

there are no weeds here. we cast crankbaits, spinnerbaits, hard jerkbaits,

and some worms. in these spots we have also taken some walleyes and pikes

in the fall we also fish these channels with crankbaits and spinnerbaits.

throughout the year we found the easiest way to find bass is to find

baitfish. the easiest way to find baits fish is to watch for ducks that are

diving under the water to eat minnows. little bass may be bustin' the

surface but the big boys are deaper pickin up the falling scraps so we

through lures that will get down there for them to munch on.

p.s. in your tip of the month for october you said you were up there on a

saturday. i was up there on sunday the 15 and caught a nise pike at dusk.
