Out of frustration at not being able to take the boat out Saturday because of out of town visitors I decided to make a quick trip to Spencer to do a little shore casting. The only reason the wife went along is I agreed to do the Walmart thing on the way home. As she sat with that bored out of her mind look, I made cast after cast with, of course, no results.
Once again proving to her what she already thought, fishing is stupid and a waste of time. Then I felt a hit and set the hook and immediately told her proudly "I got one" before I could loose it. This thing to say the least was a real horse stripping 8# test of the Accurist with ease. When it jumped it must have been the biggest CARP I ever hooked. Most likely a
grass carp. This thing proceeded to make 3 straight spectacular jumps while going straight out, that were amazing. When I at last dragged this thing close to shore, after it ran out of gas, I had ho idea how to unhook it since I had snagged its tail and I had nowhere to grab without hooks and I was not about to get wet for a carp. As I handed the rod to her she backed up instead of using the reel of course and before I could reach anything close to its gills, a little slack later, out popped the Strike King plug. Everyone was happy most of all her, because she said the fish won! Off to the Walmart fishing department I went.
