After a long winter we at last launched our less than spectacular boat for another season. It was Sunday the 8th. While it was a nice day the wind was strong and drove us crazy all day. Nothing like trying to throw a baitcaster in gale force winds to keep your attention. I picked up one on a Strike King pro model in a cove hiding from the wind. That was it for quite a while. In an area on the dam side toward the road end we had some luck last year with Rattlin Raps over what were now dead weeds. I went with a new lure of that type in shad. WRONG! My son in law went fire tiger and his first was 17"s. Not to be intimidated I stayed with shad. He caught two more and when I swallowed my pride it was 4-1 bad guy. I caught another near the big island on guess what? Fire tiger.
Is there a lesson in this? Sure was for me. We switched and switched to find what would trigger them and then
I was asleep when we found it. I was slow to switch. It ain't going to happen again!! We were off the water at 7:00, which impressed the women, and except for the wind it was a nice day.
Keep chasin them bass. BCIO Next trip tip HOME
