In my opinion........
I would think that the biggest advantage to the Power Shads is it's "scent". As with most top/surface/subsurface lures, when a bass hits it you have to wait (most reactions are to pull/yank immediately - beleive me I've done it plenty of times even when dry fly fishing) and give the bass a chance to smack it again. With the "scented" lures it may make the bass hold on or smack it even quicker. The only other theory I can think of is the "scented" lure leaves a trail for the bass to follow when accompanied with the sound and sight of the lure. The scent is just an additional attractor to hopefully make the bass more aggressive (or more sure it should eat the thing!).
